Directive 2008/98/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 November 2008, commonly referred to as the Waste Framework Directive, is a key piece of European Union (EU) legislation that sets out the framework for waste management across EU member states. Its primary purpose is to ensure that waste is managed in a way that protects the environment, human health, and promotes resource efficiency.
