EMODnet Chemistry publishes standardised, harmonised and quality-controlled data collections and derived data products. These are all relevant for the implementation of European Union (EU) marine policies such as the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), Water Framework Directive, and Maritime Spatial Planning Directive. Specifically, EMODnet Chemistry contributes to Descriptors 5 (eutrophication), 8 (chemical pollution), 9 (contaminants in seafood) and 10 (marine litter) of the MSFD |

MFWAM is a sea state forecasting model (wind and swell) derived from the third-generation WAM code (WAMDI Group, 1988). Depending on its different regional or global configurations, this model is ‘forced’ at input by 10 m winds from the numerical weather prediction models ARPEGE and AROME. Spatial, altimetric and spectral observation data, via satellite-borne radars, are assimilated by global and regional (large-scale) MFWAM models. Wave physics is taken into account in order to model the waves as accurately as possible. |

The surge model used by Météo-France since 14 January 2014 is a model developed by SHOM, in collaboration with Météo-France as part of the HOMONIM project (Historique, Observation, MOdélisation des NIveaux Marins), under the project management of the Direction Générale pour la Prévention des Risques (DGPR) and to meet the needs of the Plan interministériel Submersions Rapides on ‘improving knowledge of hazards and monitoring, forecasting, vigilance and warning systems’. |
